General Assembly streams House, Senate panel meetings on new district maps

State lawmakers continue plowing ahead with the task of approving new maps for House and Senate districts by Sept. 18.

A three-judge panel threw out maps drawn in 2017, saying lawmakers unfairly created too much of a partisan advantage for Republican candidates in them. The judges ordered that the new maps must be created in public hearings and not take the voting records of residents into account when setting district lines.
