A new food hall in Johnston County will have an iconic restaurant as one of its first tenants. The Redneck BBQ Lab, known for serving up North Carolina BBQ with a unique scientific twist, announced the opening of its second location in a Facebook Live video on Dec. 11.
"As promised, we'll finally reveal the secret to what's been going with us,"
says co-founder Jerry L. Stephenson Jr. in on the restaurant's social media page. "We said it'd be three years, and Jan. 16 is our three-year anniversary. So it's past time."

Stephenson announced the long-awaited news--the Redneck BBQ Lab's new location will be in the much anticipated Old North State Food Hall.
The new food hall is a 15,000-square-foot space, expected to open in spring 2020. With popular local restaurants like Redneck BBQ Lab, it will be the nation’s first roadside food hall, offering professionally curated North Carolina cuisine that reflects our state's deep agricultural history.
"We're going to be right here in the middle of it, promoting North Carolina and Johnston County," shares Stephenson.
Stephenson says this is just the first step in a big year for Redneck BBQ Lab. "There's more in the works," he says, indicating sights set on the coast and even more locations in Johnston County.
Redneck BBQ Lab's new location will be opening in Spring 2020, alongside the opening of the Old North State Food Hall on Interstate 95 and U.S. Highway 70.
