After a record-breaking number of votes, the winners of the jshu.net Voters’ Choice Awardswere revealed during a ceremony at Union Station in downtown Raleigh Thursday night.
The “best of” ballot gives the jshu.net audience an opportunity to vote for their favorite people, businesses and services in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Fayetteville and other areas of North Carolina.

A Place at the Table founder Maggie Kane was honored as the Woman of the Year. Former WRAL anchor Bill Leslie was selected as Best Twitter Personality, while WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner was named best WRAL-TV personality.
Ashley Christensen's Poole'side Pies was named the best new restaurant of the year. The James Beard award-winning chef opened the pizza joint in September next to her flagship restaurant, Poole's Diner. Poole's was named the best restaurant for southern cuisine.
Sola Coffee was named the best coffee shop, while Two Roosters won best ice cream. Buoy Bowls won best food truck for the second year in a row. Duck Donuts bested Krispy Kreme in the best doughnut category.
Bond Brothers Beer Company continued its domination in the best local beer category, securing its third victory in a row.
Other repeat winners include La Farm for best baked goods, Rise for best biscuits and Redneck BBQ Lab for best barbecue.
The jshu.net Voters' Choice Awards were hosted by WRAL anchor and reporter Mikaya Thurmond.
