Halifax County Sheriff's Office investigating shooting that left a 19-year-old dead

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday morning that left a teenager dead.

The Sheriff's said at about 10:20 a.m. deputies, in addition to officers from the Weldon Police Department, responded to the 900 block of Sycamore Street in Weldon after receiving reports that a man had been shot.

After arriving on scene, law enforcement located 19-year-old Ja’eid Jabae Watson of Roanoke Rapids dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

At this time, the sheriff's office has not released any additional information about the circumstances of the shooting.
