News Philosophy
Journalism has the power to provoke action and reaction by exposing layers of truth that may otherwise go unchecked. I feel a responsibility to be both an advocate and watchdog for the community.
Education
I was born in the United States but was raised in Canada. I received a BA in media studies from Western University, located in London, Ontario. I also have the Canadian equivalent of an associate degree in broadcast journalism from Fanshawe College, also in Ontario.

Hobbies, Interests, Community Involvement
In the winter I love to snowboard and in the summertime I love to be outside in nature, especially by the water, with our daughter and two dogs.
As for community involvement, I have had the privilege of being involved with a variety of organizations over the years. I am passionate about helping the community combat food insecurity. That passion began as a weekly volunteer delivering meals to homebound seniors, and later I joined the Board of Directors for Western New York’s largest hunger relief organization, FeedMoreWNY.

My husband Dan and I have a daughter, Phoebe, plus two dogs – a Great Dane and a terrier mix.
Favorite Books, Movies, Podcasts, Videogames
I love nonfiction and would love to get your recommendations! Podcasts that revisit historical events are always compelling to me. I love watching all kinds of movies and especially love a rare trip to the movie theater with plenty of popcorn and chocolate covered almonds.

Most Memorable Assignments
I’ve had the privilege of interviewing celebrities at the Toronto International Film Festival, covering Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s visits to Canada and numerous elections. But by far the most memorable story I’ve covered is the mass shooting at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York.
It was a Saturday afternoon, I was having friends over to enjoy a beautiful spring day, when my husband and I got word that potentially ten people died in a shooting at the same TOPS grocery store where my husband had been just a couple hours earlier. I sprung into action and was on the air for several hours of wall-to-wall coverage. Less than 48 hours later, I was holding the hand of a woman whose sister was among the victims. The unimaginable pain from this horrific shooting was felt across the region, but it motivated real action to improve the living conditions of marginalized community members.
