Cape Hatteras National Seashore rangers are telling beachgoers at the North Carolina coast to be aware of a cool-looking, but dangerous animal.
The blue sea dragon (Glaucus atlanticus) was recently spotted washing up on the Outer Banks. They're only about an inch wide and are interesting to look at, but rangers say that you should be cautious around them. They are venomous and can sting you.

The dragon feeds on Portuguese man o' war and stores venom from that meal to defend themselves. That makes for a powerful sting.
CPNS says that if you spot one of the dragons, admire them from a safe distance and count on seeing more nearby. They travel in groups known as blue fleets.
