The Raleigh Police Department said it has received reports of a person posing as an election canvasser and falsely claiming that voters can vote by phone.

The person leaves a door hanger with a QR code that leads to a fraudulent ballot, according to Raleigh police.

Raleigh said the claim that voting can be done with a phone is not legitimate and is a Class I felony.

Police said the person is driving a dark blue Nissan sedan with California tags.

Anyone who encounters the person is asked to report it by calling 919-829-1911.

Early voting runs through 3 p.m. Saturday in North Carolina. Election Day is set for Tuesday, Nov. 5.
