The mother of a 9-month-old baby who survived a head-on crash is calling it a Christmas miracle.
Chelsea Evans was struck by a drunk driver Sunday night, leaving her and her baby lucky to be alive.

Evans and her fiancé are calling their survival nothing short of divine intervention.
"It's a miracle because the force of the impact could have easily taken our lives. However, God stepped in and saved us," Evans said.
The crash happened around 9 p.m. on Gillis Hill Road. Evans says the drunk driver crossed the center line and hit her vehicle head-on.
"It was me and my 9-month-old son in the car. The impact was so severe that the airbags deployed, and my car battery died. I couldn’t open the door to get to my son," Evans recounted.
Evans sustained injuries to her neck, back, and arms. Fortunately, her son, St. Jires, who was in a car seat, escaped with no serious injuries.
This isn’t the first time Evans has encountered a drunk driver. Nine months ago, while returning from a maternity photoshoot, another drunk driver rear-ended her on Murchison Road.
"She backed up to flee the scene and hit me again. That crash caused me to start contracting and go into labor," Evans said.
Evans was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where an emergency C-section saved her baby's life.
In this latest incident, the focus now shifts to Calvin McDonald, the man police say caused the crash.
When asked what she would say to McDonald, Evans responded, "To get his life in order because he almost took two lives."
Evans’ injuries are serious, and her family has started a GoFundMe page to help cover medical expenses.
Calvin McDonald is currently in the hospital, and police say he will be charged with driving while impaired and failure to maintain his lane once he is released.
