Dorothea Dix Park held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday for Flowers Cottage, a coffee and park bar that the park says will help attract even more visitors to the park.

The new establishment will open to visitors on Thursday.

The park said that while people are viewing the flowers from the cottage, they can also enjoy a tasty treat with it. Flowers Cottage will have a coffee shop upstairs and a bar downstairs. Some of the options you can choose from to relax include:

  • Coffee.
    • Matcha.
      • House-made sodas.
        • Draft and canned beer.
          • Wine.
            • Soft-serve ice cream.
              • Snacks.

                The park said Flowers Cottage will also have public restrooms, visitor information and a water station.

                Dix Park Conservancy, a nonprofit that supports the City of Raleigh in operating and maintaining the park, announced the renovation project in December 2025.

                "We know [that] to extend the park visits, we need refreshments and public restrooms. So the idea is to anchor your experiences here at Dix Park with some place to sit, meet, gather and spend some time outdoors," said Nick Smith,  Dix Park Conservancy's vice president of operations.

                Flowers Cottage is open Thursday through Sunday during the following hours:

                • Thursday: 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.
                  • Friday: 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.
                    • Saturday: 9 a.m. - 10 p.m.
                      • Sunday: 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
