Child hit by vehicle at Kiwanis Family Park in Sanford

A child is recovering after getting hit by a car Monday at Kiwanis Family Park in Sanford.

Witnesses told Sanford police the child, 7, was at a food truck in the park’s parking lot, the child ran from the food truck towards their family’s car and was hit by a slow-moving vehicle.

The child was transported to the hospital for evaluation and is expected to be OK, police said.

Sanford police said the incident is being treated as an accident.
