A Franklin County deputy is in the hospital after he was shot while chasing a suspect Thursday night near Louisburg.
Sheriff Kevin White said in a social media post around midnight Friday Deputy Taylor Lucas was pursuing a crime suspect when the suspect shot at him.

White said Lucas was shot while trying to arrest the suspect.
The WRAL Breaking News Tracker captured video of deputies investigating two crime scenes on E River Road and less than a tenth of a mile away on George Leonard Road.
Forensics investigators were taking photos of a damaged car that was eventually towed from the scene.
White said in the social media post that the suspect has been arrested. There is no threat to the community.
Lucas is in the hospital.
"Continued prayers are requested," White said.
WRAL News is working to find out the identity of the suspect, the charges the suspect is facing and the current condition of the deputy.
