The Rocky Mount Police Department identified the body found in the Tar River as a missing person.
On Monday, police said Jevon Rashad Battle was found floating near the Rocky Mount Mills dam. His body was found floating face down around 9:30 a.m. near the 1100 block of Falls Road, according to police.

The investigation caused Falls Road at Ridge Street to be closed for a period of time.
Battle was first reported missing just one week earlier on Monday, Nov. 3, to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said deputies used drones, K9 units, and search teams to try and find Battle, but were unsuccessful.
Police said the Nash County Sheriff's Office is now taking over the investigation.
