The town of Spring Lake has issued a Boil Water Advisory for all customers on town water on Sunday. This will be in effect until further notice.

After routine water sampling, E-coli bacteria was found in the water supply in one sample. Other samples from the same water source were negative for the bacteria.

As a precaution, everyone should boil their tap water before drinking it.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for all consumption, including:

  • Drinking, including pet water
    • Preparing food and beverages
      • Making ice
        • Brushing teeth
          • Preparing infant formula
            • Washing fruits and vegetables
              • Washing dishes and food-contact surfaces

Bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one (1) minute and allow it to cool before use. Any ice made with tap water since Sept. 8 should be discarded.

Be careful not to swallow any water while showering or bathing.

All water must be boiled before consumption until the town says otherwise.
