Days-long boil advisory lifted for Hillsborough water customers

A boil advisory was lifted Monday for water customers in the town of Hillsborough.

The advisory was announced at 3 a.m. Saturday for parts of Hillsborough, including the downtown area.

On Monday the town of Hillsborough released the following statement:

"The Town of Hillsborough’s boil water advisory has been lifted. Testing of water samples found no contaminant in the system."

The advisory was issued early Saturday morning after the water system’s central pressure zone experienced low pressure due to a major water main break.

The town had told residents to conserve their water, but lifted that order Saturday afternoon, adding that they are testing the water before lifting the boil water advisory.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and are grateful for our water dedicated town staff who are working overnight to resolve the problem,” said utilities director Marie Strandwitz.
