A man is expected to be okay after his car ended up in a pond in Sampson County Wednesday night.
Around 8:30 p.m., dive teams and State Highway Patrol were on the scene at a pond off Kitty Fork Road near U.S. Highway 421 in Clinton.

Troopers said that the driver was having a medical emergency. When he realized, he turned into a driveway and somehow ended up in the pond. SHP did not elaborate on how the car ended up in the water.
The driver escaped the car in time and did not require transportation or attention to and from a hospital. He remained on the scene, wrapped in a blanket as dive teams and SHP pulled the car out. The driver is expected to be okay.
