After a fatal vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Wednesday morning, Cary neighbors are voicing their opinions on improvements needed to crosswalks in the area.
A 76-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning when she was hit on Ederlee Drive near Peregrine Place.

Neighbors say this fatal accident could have been avoided and have filed multiple complaints with the Town of Cary and the North Carolina Department of Transportation asking for improvements.
The Department of Transportation has acknowledged the complaints that have been filed and says that a plan for improved crosswalks is in the works.
The Department of Transportation is responsible for the maintenance of area crosswalks although Cary has helped with some of the maintenance recently.
NCDOT plans to install a "Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon" which would improve the visibility of the pedestrian crosswalks and add a stop light that would allow pedestrians to cross safely.
The new additions are planned for the fall of 2028 but may be coming to the area sooner.
