Body of UNC professor pulled from lake in Chapel Hill

Search teams found the body of a missing swimmer at Eastwood Lake in Chapel Hill on Tuesday.

The town issued a notice Tuesday afternoon about the swimmer, Konrad Jarausch, going missing.

The man, whose name was not released, had been swimming near Lakeshore Drive in a residential area Tuesday morning. Chapel Hill police and fire crews responded to the lake around 11 a.m.

Emergency crews from Chapel Hill, Orange County, Chatham County, Durham County and Alamance County helped search the area.

Jarausch's body was found around 2:30 p.m. He was 85 years old and a professor emeritus of history at UNC-Chapel Hill.
