A former Robeson County deputy charged with murder was denied bond on Thursday.
Connie Graham was charged in June with first-degree murder and felony conspiracy in connection with the 2015 disappearance of her stepdaughter, Sara Graham. Sara Graham was declared legally dead by a judge on June 1.

Her attorney, Johnson Britt, argued that Connie Graham’s long law enforcement career and deep ties to Robeson County make her a good candidate for pretrial release.
Court records show that Britt requested that the court set a reasonable bond, saying that Connie Graham is not a flight risk or a threat to the public. The motion said Connie Graham is a lifelong Robeson County resident and worked with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office for 23 years.
The defense also argued that holding Connie Graham without bond violated her constitutional rights.
Connie Graham did not appear in person on Thursday. The next hearing is on July 17.
In February 2015, authorities found Sara Graham’s white van on McDonald Road in Fairmont, but she was nowhere to be found. She was 18 years old at the time of her disappearance.
