The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said a 17-year-old driver caused a crash involving a school bus Tuesday afternoon in Durham County.

A Discovery Charter School bus was traveling north on Mineral Springs Road around 5 p.m. when a car traveling on Destrier Drive failed to yield and collided into the passenger side of the bus, troopers said.

According to a spokesperson from Discovery Charter School, the bus driver and high school student on the bus were not injured.

Troopers said the driver of the car was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle as a precaution. The two passengers were not injured.

Troopers charged the 17-year-old driver with failure to yield and failure to wear a seatbelt.

All lanes of Mineral Springs Road are back open.
