A dog was pulled from a dumpster at The Shoppes at Lakewood in Durham, and Durham County Animal Services is trying to identify the person responsible.
Around 10 a.m. Tuesday, Animal Services responded to a business in the 2000 block of Chapel Hill Road after employees found a dog trapped in a dumpster.

An approaching trash collection truck was stopped before it could empty the dumpster, and Animal Services was called to remove the dog.
A responding deputy safely pulled the dog from the dumpster.
Security footage from nearby businesses showed a person of interest. The man was last seen leaving the property and heading toward House Street on Tuesday morning.
