Durham police arrested eight people and seized nine firearms, drugs and ammunition during a search connected to recent shootings and a homicide in the city.

The Durham Police Department’s Homicide/Violent Crimes Unit, with help from the Special Operations Unit and Selective Enforcement Team, executed a search warrant Sept. 2 at a home on S. Roxboro Street.

Investigators said the operation was prompted by multiple violent incidents in the area during August, including shootings and a homicide.

Police said they recovered 14.6 grams of cocaine, 158.4 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, nine firearms, a large amount of ammunition, firearm accessories and $219 in cash. Five of the firearms had been reported stolen.

“The probable cause developed in this case was the result of investigations into multiple incidents in this area, specifically homicides, aggravated assaults, and weapons violations,” Sgt. J. Roberts with the Homicide/Violent Crimes Unit said.

Roberts said the operation resulted in the removal of what he called a significant number of dangerous firearms and narcotics from the neighborhood.

The following people were charged:

  • Dezarion Cousin, 19: Felony conspiracy and possession of a stolen firearm.
    • Jayden Crowder, 18: Felony conspiracy and was served with 25 outstanding arrest warrants.
      • Nautyca Gore, 26: Felony conspiracy, manufacture of cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance sales, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and possession of a stolen firearm.
        • Jaquan Gore, 26: Felony conspiracy, manufacture of cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance sales and possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine.
          • Robert Lloyd, 43: Felony conspiracy and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
            • Tomon Parker, 22: Possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance.
              • Anthony Rand, 55: Felony conspiracy.
                • A 17-year-old male juvenile: Juvenile petition for possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance and felony conspiracy.

                  Police said all of the adults charged are Durham residents.
