A family grieving the loss of a beloved father, husband, and provider.
57-year-old Emmanuel Gbedee was found shot and killed in the back seat of his car on Holly Grove Rd in Benson on Sunday.

Gbedee was driving for Uber when he picked up 18-year-old Tray'vian Brown, who was charged with his murder on Wednesday.
“It was heartbreaking. It was catastrophic. It’s a tragic situation. Something that I never expected or thought that would come close to our household,” Emmanuel Jr., Gbedee’s son said.

He says the day's following the shooting have been especially hard for the family who were preparing to celebrate Gbedee's 30th anniversary with his wife.
“It has been a terror, you know now that we have to pivot in planning for something that was celebratory to something that is devastating,” Emmanuel Jr. said.
He says his father saw the best in everyone, but always prioritized safety.
He never could have imagined what would happen when he picked up that 18-year-old.
“ I can’t even think that that even crossed his mind when he picked up that young man. It did not cross his mind at all,” Emmanuel Jr., said.
In statement to WRAL, an Uber spokesperson says, “Our hearts are heavy for Mr. Gbedee’s family and loved ones as they grapple with this unthinkable loss. We banned the rider’s account and are supporting law enforcement with their investigation as they work to bring those responsible to justice.”
The Gbedee family hope Brown's time behind bars leads to reflection on is mistakes and growth from them.
“There is so much life that is ahead of an 18-year-old and this did not have to be your story,” Emmanuel Jr. said.
Tray'vian Brown is being held at the Johnston County detention center without bond.
With Gbedee's 30th anniversary around the corner, the family tells me the celebrations will go on, but will now honor Emmanuel's memory as well as the couples time together.
