Heading into the busy Thanksgiving week, some local food banks are in need of donations to help feed those in need. 

The Catholic Parish Outreach Food Pantry warehouse in Raleigh had empty shelves early Monday as the pantry said food is going out more quickly than it is coming in.

The days before Thanksgiving are when the group typically sees some of their highest individual day totals at its Raleigh food pantry. They average about 150 families on normal days, but could see up to 300 families a day on Monday and Tuesday this week.

Durham Rescue Mission: To help feed more families, donations of turkeys or hams are usually needed.

Raleigh Rescue Mission: Volunteer to help with a Turkey Meal Takeout event this year. 

Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC: Online donations are usually doubled this time of year through Dec. 31.
