Arrest made after woman shot to death at Fayetteville homeless encampment

A man has been charged in the shooting death of a woman at a homeless encampment in Fayetteville.

Cumberland County deputies said Lindsey Paschal, 39, of Lillington, died Monday in a shooting in a wooded area at the end of Bureau Drive in Fayetteville.

Dominic Jermaine Smith, 47, was charged with first-degree murder.

Smith is being held without bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center with a first court appearance set for Tuesday afternoon.

An investigation is underway.
