The State Highway Patrol said a Dodge Charger was speeding on Colon Road when it ran off the right side of the roadway and crashed into a tree just after midnight.

All five people in the car were killed in the crash.

Family members told WRAL News that the car belonged to 20-year-old Jonathan Posadas.

"They were always together wherever they went," Posadas' cousin, Chris Garcia said of the group of friends.

He was among the family and friends who came to the crash site Monday, to mourn and remember.

"He had a big heart, trying to give someone anything, inviting them to lunch. He was the one that was trying to get cookouts going at home. He just had a big heart," Garcia said.

Posadas had only had the car a few weeks, Garcia said.

Posadas' family created a GoFundMe page to raise money to cover his funeral expenses.

The names of the others involved have not yet been released.

The incident remains under investigation.
