Andrew Childs, a former Durham EMS district supervisor, was sentenced to 18 years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised probation after pleading guilty to distribution of child sexual abuse material and production of an "animal crush video". Childs was charged with having 127 files of child pornography.
Childs distributed child pronography and produced a video depicting his sexual abuse of a dog, according court documents.

He pled guilty to the charges on April 7, and was ordered to pay $24,800 in restitution to his victims, said an FBI release.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national iniatitve by the U.S. Department of Justice to fight sexual exploitation of children. Assistant United States Attorney Karla Painter for the Middle District of North Carolina was the prosecuter.
