Woman found dead with stab wounds in Carrboro townhome

Carrboro police are investigating a homicide after a woman was found dead Thursday afternoon in a townhome.

Around 3:30 p.m., police responded to a townhome on Cedarwood Lane where they found a woman with stab wounds, police said.

Neighbors called 911 after hearing loud noises coming from the townhome.

Two people were detained, and investigators are working to determine their connection to the case.

Police said they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the case because of limited staffing within the Carrboro Police Department.

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker spoke with neighbors at the scene. One woman, who has lived in the neighborhood for 10 years, said she had never heard of a violent crime in the neighborhood.
