Part of Interstate 40 was closed on Friday afternoon due to a crash near Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes near the Airport Boulevard exit. Heavy backups were seen in the area around 2:10 p.m.

A dump truck appeared to be involved.
Around 2:30 p.m., two lanes were reopened, but traffic was still significantly impacted. Those going west were backed up as well.
Around 3:30 p.m., all lanes were open, but traffic was slow-moving.
There is no word on potential injuries.
