A police officer in a Franklin County town is now behind bars after he was accused of having sex while on duty in his patrol car.
Lake Royale Police said Officer Samuel Marcum was fired and arrested on Wednesday.

According to arrest warrants, Marcum was an officer when he threw his body camera into Lake Royale to hide the fact that he was having sex inside his patrol car while on duty.
Warrants also say Marcum initially told officers that he lost his body camera during an ice storm. He later provided a statement on Saturday, June 6, that he decided to throw the body camera in the lake because he was scared of disciplinary consequences after allowing his girlfriend to be inside his patrol car.
Marcum now faces several charges, including obstruction of justice, making false official statements, injury to personal property and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.
The investigation is ongoing.
