A teacher in Lenoir County faces several charges after she was accused of being drunk while on campus.
On Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies formally summoned Alena Chabot with criminal charges after E.B. Frink Middle School’s resource officer was notified about a teacher who was suspected of being drunk.

The sheriff's office said the incident happened on Tuesday, Aug. 26. During the investigation, officers found Chabot had an open container of alcohol inside her purse along with prescription medicine.
Chabot now faces several charges, including misdemeanor disorderly conduct on school property and misdemeanor intoxicated and disruptive.
She is expected to appear in Lenoir County Court on Dec. 1 at 8:25 a.m.
