Students were forced to leave campus at Ligon Middle School on Tuesday due to 'a potential threat,' according to school officials.
They waited outside for less than an hour. After the gymnasium was cleared, students were allowed back in for lunch and afternoon classes.

"All students are safe," the school wrote to parents just after 1 p.m.
Raleigh police officers, Raleigh firefighters and Wake County Sheriff's Office deputies surrounded the school on Lenoir Street around 12 p.m. A crowd of students and staff gathered across the street.
By 1 p.m., the school said law enforcement cleared the buildings on campus and said there was no threat to the school.
While the school day went on as planned after the threat was cleared, parents who wished to pick up their children early were asked to follow the carpool line into the parking lot on Church Street and bring identification.
Social media threats against Nash, Edgecombe schools
In the Rocky Mount area, several schools dealt with threats made on social media Tuesday. Those schools included:

- Rocky Mount Preparatory School (Rocky
Mount)
- Parker Middle School (Edgecombe County)
- West Edgecombe Middle School (Edgecombe
County).
Rocky Mount Preparatory School was under a "soft lockdown" throughout the day.
The other schools are in secure status, meaning entry was limited to students and staff, for the rest of the day.
