A 52-year-old Lowes Foods employee has died after being hit by an SUV Friday afternoon.
Clayton Police Department said Ann Grandfield was collecting shopping carts in the parking lot when a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe driven 56-year-old Charlie Lee Walker Jr. struck her.

She was transported to WakeMed where she later died from her injuries.
Police said Walker is charged with one count of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
The accident remains under investigation.
