The Cumberland County Sheriff's Department is investigating a homicide that happened early Saturday morning in Fayetteville.
Deputies responded to the 6000 block of Marquette Street around 4:40 a.m. for reports of an assault.

When they arrived, they discovered 66-year-old Richard Brigman had been shot. He was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he died of his injuries.
Sheriff deputies arrested a suspect on scene, but they have since been released.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit is investigating this shooting.
