A man who was found critically injured Monday evening near the American Tobacco Trail has died, Durham police said.
Officers remained in the area overnight and into Tuesday morning, when the WRAL Breaking News Tracker returned to the scene.

Howard Reade died in the ordeal. Police believe the 44-year-old was stabbed.
Police responded around 6:30 p.m. Monday to the 3000 block of Fayetteville Street near the American Tobacco Trail, where they found Reade. Officers rushed Reade to the hospital, where he later died, police said.
Weeks earlier, another man was killed in the area, also in daylight hours. Chesleigh Lyons, 51, was pronounced dead after a stabbing along the American Tobacco Trail near Fayetteville Street and Pilot Street. Police arrested a suspect about a month later.
Monday night marked the second fatal stabbing in recent weeks in the same general area of the trail.
Durham police did not say if anyone was in custody. A homicide investigation is underway.
