When deputies arrived, arrived, they found the man on his back with a head injury and not breathing. While they waited for EMS, they performed life-saving measures on the man, including accessing one of the automated external defibrillators (AED) inside the courthouse.

EMTs revived the man when they arrived and took him to a local hospital.

“I am proud of the quick action these deputies took,” said Sheriff Clarence F. Birkhead. “Sgt Foster, Deputy Deloatch, and Deputy Truitt did exactly what they are trained to do when someone is in need of assistance. We all pray that the man they assisted today has a full recovery.”
