The Granville County and Vance County communities will come together on Sunday to say goodbye to a 16-year-old who died in a crash last week.
Creedmoor police said Emma Wallace, a student at South Granville High School from Henderson, died in a crash on U.S. Highway 15 near Oxford on Monday, Aug. 17.

Her family said they will hold a funeral for her in the auditorium of South Granville High School on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. after a receiving of friends at noon. A burial will follow at Meadowview Memorial Park in Oxford at 3 p.m.
"While our hearts are shattered, we find comfort in knowing that Emma is resting peacefully in the loving arms of Jesus," her family said in her obituary. "Emma was such an amazing person and so full of life. She was a light you didn't just see – you felt. She had a heart that stretched farther than her years, a kindness that reached people who needed it the most, and a spirit that made every room a little warmer the moment she walked in."
South Granville High School principal Ashley Clark said Wallace's death was felt by the entire school community.
"Our hearts are broken," she said.
Creedmoor Police Chief Troy Wheless said the loss of Wallace is being felt deeply by those who knew her, including her classmates, teammates, teachers and the people whose lives she touched.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wallace family, Emma’s friends and teammates, and everyone in our community who is grieving this devastating loss,” Wheless said. “We are thankful for all the support that we have received from our community.”
Emma would have turned 17 next month. Dozens of people shared their condolences and memories to her family on her obituary.
