Friends and family honored the life of 15-year-old Jack O'Shea, a Cardinal Gibbons High School student on Friday after he died in an April 18 crash involving an alleged drunk driver.
O'Shea's family says he played on both the basketball and baseball teams at Cardinal Gibbons.

"His love for sports extended beyond the court; he was an avid fan of the Duke Blue Devils, Denver Nuggets, Carolina Panthers, New York Yankees and Carolina Huricanes, passionately following their every game," the family said.
A mass celebrating O'Shea's life was held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and followed by a celebration of life at Croasdaile Country Club.
"Though his time with us was brief, Jack Francis O'Shea lived a life of adventure, courage, and fearlessness. He touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength that will inspire us always," his family wrote. "May he rest in peace, embraced by the love of those who hold him dear."

The crash happened just before 9 p.m. on April 18, near the intersection of Cole Mill Road and Wyndham Lane in Durham. O'Shea was riding an electronic bicycle at the time.
O'Shea's famiy said it happened when he was returning home after an afternoon bike ride with friends.
Joseph Savarino, the 26-year-old grandson of former Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski, faces a misdemeanor charge of driving while impaired. Savarino admitted to authorities that he drank earlier in the night.
Savarino's next court hearing is scheduled for May 20.
