Members of the Nash County Sheriff's Department, including K9 officer Joey, are headed to Venezuela to help with the humanitarian efforts following the June 24 earthquakes that caused severe damage across the country.
Over 13.5 million people were affected by the two quakes and strong aftershocks.

On Friday, Rescue Response International, a sister organization of Haiti Air Ambulance requested emergency support from Nash County. Deputies will be traveling to Venezuela and working alongside Canadian K9 teams to perform search and rescue procedures.
Their handlers will accompany them to ensure the safety of the search dogs during the rescue mission.
