On Friday, some North Carolina teachers walked out of their classrooms in protest for higher pay and a better allocation of district budgets. North Carolina is ranked 43 in the nation for teacher pay, according to the National Education Association.
Some Wake County Schools are preparing for potential impacts to staffing on Monday.

South Garner High School planned to consolidate classrooms and offer some online alternatives. Classes will be on a modified schedule, including no transitions between classes, and two class periods instead of four.
The statement from South Garner sent to parents on Thursday read in part:
We anticipate higher-than-normal staff absences, which will impact classroom coverage and substitute availability.
This is due to some teachers at our school plan participating in a walk-out on these dates to take a stand on broader issues affecting public education.
We will make every effort to ensure a safe and productive day for all students.
Several parents have told WRAL that their students are spending the day in the auditorium.
