The annual event raises money to support year-round programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics North Carolina provides sports, health, and wellness programs to children and adult athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Those programs are provided for free, helping to ensure children and adults can participate without finical barriers.

Participants who raised $1,000 or more earned the opportunity to rappel down the 17-story One City Plaza building. More than 125 people took part in Saturday's event.Special Olympics athlete Greg Butler set an Over the Edge record by rappelling down the building 10 times during the fundraiser.
Special Olympic North Carolina President and CEO Keith Fishburne said fundraising such as Over the Edge help athletes to participate at no cost. Fishburne said he expects this year's event to raise between $190,000 and $200,000 to support those programs and services.
