Investigators are asking for tips to figure out why a person was hit and killed by a train in Fayetteville early Wednesday morning.
Police responded around 5:10 a.m. to the railroad tracks near Orange Street after receiving a report that someone had been hit by a train.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said drivers should find another route around that area after shutting down Moore Street and Orange Street.
Police have not identified the person yet or released any other details about the crash.
"At this time, the death investigation is still ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available," the Fayetteville Police Department said. "Anonymous tips can be submitted to Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crime Stoppers by calling (910) 483-TIPS (8477)."
