Riverside High School in Durham had its lockdown lifted on Monday afternoon, the district said.
The Durham County Sheriff's Office said the school was on lockdown due to a tip about a possible gun on campus. Sheriff's deputies and Durham police officers were searching the school.

The lockdown lasted from just before 4 p.m. Monday until about 4:45 p.m. Monday.
Sky 5 flew over the school at 3218 Rose of Sharon Road in Durham.
The school normally dismisses students at 4:15 p.m. on weekdays.
On March 10, the school went on lockdown due to a tip about a student with a weapon on campus. No one was arrested during that incident.
In late 2025, Riverside High School went on lockdown three times in less than a month.
