On July 9, Rocky Mount police officers responded to a shooting on Cokey Lane.
They found 54-year-old Courtney Crocker with gunshot wounds. She died at the scene.

Dickens was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.
