North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein addressed the conflict in the Middle East at a Read Across America event in Raleigh on Monday morning.
It comes as military bases across our area have increased security.

When asked if North Carolina troops are assisting in the military operation in Iran, Stein said he's yet to be briefed on their involvement.
Stein shared that his heart goes out to the families of the service members who have been killed in the conflict.
Gov. Stein has questions about the Trump administration's rationale for the U.S. involvement and how it could impact Americans.
One of his concerns includes how it could increase the cost of oil and gas.
"When you start a war, you can't control its end," Stein said. "We hope this is short. We hope that there is a regime change. We hope that there is democracy that flourishes tomorrow. I don't know if that will happen. We all need to be prepared to experience this a while longer."
When it comes to being prepared, that starts at the military bases. Camp Lejeune shared the base has increased security at their entrance gates by checking IDs and random vehicle inspections.
