Approximately 70 fire fighters responded to a 4-alarm structure fire Saturday night in Vass.

The fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. at the Dunrovin Country Store on U.S. Highway 1, Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue Chief Mike Cameron told WRAL News.
Pictures from the scene showed heavy smoke coming from the building as fire crews worked to get it under control.
One firefighter was shocked by electricity but was not seriously injured. Two other firefighters sustained minor injuries that were treated on the scene by Moore County EMS. They have all returned to full-duty.
There was no one inside the building at the time of the fire.
According to the store's website, Dunrovin opened its doors in 1950 and is the oldest and largest country store in Moore County.
The store is a local favorite selling items from their Amish Deli and Market and more.
The store’s exotic animal sanctuary closed in 2024, and all of the animals were moved to other licensed homes, according to a social media post.
The cause of the fire in under investigation.
