Sheriff: Orange County school briefly locked down after assault on staff members

A student assaulted two staff members Tuesday at Partnership Academy High School, prompting a lockdown before the student was detained by a school resource officer.

A student assaulted two staff members Tuesday at Partnership Academy High School in Orange County, prompting the school to go on lockdown.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said a school resource officer detained the student following the assaults.

Once the student was detained, the lockdown was lifted, and the school resumed its normal schedule. The sheriff's office said there is no ongoing danger to students or staff.

According to a release from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the SRO will coordinate with the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention regarding legal consequences for the student.

“At times like these, we are reminded of how important it is that we share a strong commitment to student and staff safety with our partners at the Orange County Schools,” said Chief Deputy Tina Sykes.
