A Fuquay-Varina student was charged Friday with having a pistol and a knife inside his vehicle at Willow Spring High School.
According to warrants, Keegan Chance Hoerr, 18, is accused of bringing a Highpoint 40-caliber semi-automatic pistol and a pocket knife to Willow Spring High School.

He faces a felony charge of bringing a gun onto educational property and two misdemeanor counts of carrying a weapon on educational property. Hoerr was arrested Friday by the Fuquay-Varina Police Department.
WRAL News reached out to Wake County schools to find out if Hoerr was a student at the school, and the district responded with a letter sent to families by Willow Spring High School Principal Wade Martin.
Martin staff received a report of a firearm in a student’s vehicle on campus.
"We immediately alerted our School Resource Officer as well as WCPSS Security and began an investigation," Martin wrote. "While searching the vehicle, the officer did find the reported weapon along with two small knives and prohibited substances. All of these were confiscated, and the student has been removed from campus. There is no indication that anyone was ever threatened or in danger."
State law requires a 365-day suspension of any student in possession of a firearm on campus.
The principal reminded families to secure all firearms and keep them locked in a gun safe.
