Suspected gas leak dismisses East Wake High School, all students safe

A suspected gas leak on Thursday prompted an early dismissal at East Wake High School.

School will dismiss at 1:30 p.m., a letter to families said. All students are safe.

"The gas leak is only affecting one wing of the building, but we are releasing early out of an abundance of caution," the school said.

One student emailed WRAL News saying he believed the gas leak came from a science classroom.

School buses will provide transportation, and parents can pick their students up using carpool. 

School staff will stay with students at school until everyone is picked up.
