Deputies arrested a Virginia man after he led them in a multi-county chase, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.
Timothy Durham, 58, of Hampton, Virginia, is charged with felony flee to elude, driving while impaired, simple possession of a schedule VI drug and multiple traffic offenses after stop sticks successfully disabled the truck on the western edge of Greensboro.

Orange County deputies responded around 10:20 p.m. Sunday to help Hillsborough police after a hit-and-run. Deputies caught up with and tried to stop the U-Haul on Interstate 40 near Exit 261, but the driver didn’t pull over.
The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office deployed stop sticks, puncturing the front passenger tire of the U-Haul.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Durham continued to drive erratically with his hazard lights on. He attempted to sideswipe a state trooper involved in the chase, according to the sheriff’s office.
A second encounter with stop sticks in Guilford County eventually caused the front and rear driver’s side tires to come off the U-Haul and Durham was forced to stop on Highway 29 near Guilford College Road on the west side of Greensboro. Deputies then took Durham into custody.
A representative from U-Haul authorized a private company to tow the truck, the sheriff’s office said.
In the truck, deputies found marijuana cigarettes, marijuana, a hatchet, a black mask, a camo mask, pliers, gloves and 17 rounds of rifle ammunition.
The Hillsborough Police Department may seek charges for the hit-and-run, while the State Highway Patrol weighs additional counts for Durham's attemp to veer into the trooper.
Authorities are holding Durham on a $50,000 secured bond at the Orange County Detention Center. He made his first court appearance on Monday afternoon.
