“A thundering noise came in and the tree came through the roof,” La Ney said.
La Ney said the oak tree got so wet, it’s roots “just gave away.”
"My wife was very frightened as well,” La Ney said. “She is a very concerned grandparent and she was trying to comfort him, but he couldn't stop hollering. As I said, it was just a very frightening experience."
The family just moved back into the home following a lengthy renovation project. Now, they aren't sure how long they will be displaced.
"The damage is extensive,” La Ney said. “I'm concerned about a timeline as far as getting it repaired."
La Ney was watching TV just steps away from where the tree came in. He said his grandson was playing with toys and that his family is lucky to have walked away alive.
